Guest Post from Dani - From Polish, with Love

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to share a guest post from Dani of From Polish, with Love! She is a sweetheart and I love to chat with her!! I'll be guest posting on her blog soon, so I'll make sure to let you know when ;-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi guys! I'm so excited to be over here at Crystal's Crazy Combos today! She is my first guest blog post!!! I was super flattered when she extended the invite to me since I've been following her ever since I started blogging and I look up to her! She is pretty much responsible for every indie purchase I've made due to her fabulous swatches and reviews!
I have a blog called From Polish, with Love and I do everything from swatches and reviews to nail art and some makeup looks!! I'm a SAHM to an almost 2 /12 year old little boy and currently expecting baby boy #2 any day now! I've been married to my high school sweetheart for going on 5 years now!
Today I'm showing you one of the new L'Oreal jelly polishes which is a part of their Summer 2013 Miss Candy Gelly line.
This one is Mango Mamma and was definitely the first polish out of the collection that caught my eye. It's a gorgeous bright-orange jelly that really builds beautifully! I used 4 coats in the pictures below and you can still see VNL but I actually kind of like that with this one!
I couldn't leave well enough alone so I decided to do an accent nail with Finger Paints Flashy on my ring finger from their Special Effects collection that came out in January 2012. I love how the orange flecks really bring a foil-y look to the mani! This is a perfect summer color and would be even prettier as a pedi!
Hope you all enjoyed my guest post and I hope you all have a great day!
Again, my blog is From Polish, with Love and hope you enjoyed my post!!
Dani of From Polish, with Love
Orange is going to be big for Summer I think! Love this mani! Thank you so much, Dani!!!
Have a great day!
Much Love,
Guest Post - Elissa from Ten Little Nubs!
Hi everyone!! I have an exciting guest post today!  It is by the lovely Elissa from Ten Little Nubs.  And she is using a gorgeous Black Cat Lacquer that has been on my list, Let Them Eat Cake (not only is the name amazing, I'm drooling over these pastel glitters)!  OH! And don't miss Black Cat Lacquer's sale for 25% off of orders over $25 until 3/31, using the code "Easter25".  I'll let Elissa take it from here!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey guys! My name is Elissa! You might remember me from my old blog Lissa's Polish Addiction, but I have recently started my brand new blog, Ten Little Nubs!
I'm so excited to be guest posting for Crystal today! :) I love her blog! Crystal is also guest posting on my blog today so be sure to check out her post!

Today I decided to do a spring-esque mani for Crystal's blog because all of you on the other side of the world are currently getting ready for spring (or already in spring) but here, in Australia, we're getting ready for autumn! Haha.

I started off with a base of China Glaze Something Sweet. It's a really pretty pastel pink. I will definitely need to add some thinner to this polish, though, because it was extremely thick and hard to work with for me.

I topped that off with 1 coat of Black Cat Lacquer Let Them Eat Cake which is a clear base with blue, green and pink pastel hex glitters as well as some white microglitters and some small holographic glitters too. Like the China Glaze polish, Let Them Eat Cake was a little thick but not too difficult to apply.

Hope you enjoyed this mani! Have a great day!

Guest Post - Lisa's Nail Obsession

Hi all! I am Lisa from Lisa's Nail Obsession. I invited Crystal to guest post on my blog and she returned the favor. So here I am to guest post on her blog! I have never guest posted before so this is kind of exciting and scary at the same time. I am pleased to be here though.

Crystal did a skittles mani on my blog so I thought I'd do a different nail on each finger for you too. I kept it simple for this design.
  • Thumb - Small pink dots
  • Pointer finger - Stripes
  • Middle finger - Glitter
  • Ring finger - Flower
  • Pinky - Big white dots

I used a dotting tool for the dots, a sable striping brush for the stripes, and a sable No.1 brush (that I cut down) for the flower.

I used:
OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
OPI Pink-Ing Of You
Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Extreme Wear Strobe Light
Ceramcoat White
Ceramcoat Hydrangea Pink
Gelous Advanced Nail Gel Coat (as a top coat on the glitter)
Dazzle Dry Top Coat

I started out with dot flowers on the ring finger, but didn't like them. So I redid the ring finger until I was somewhat happy with it. I applied Gelous to the glitter nail because it makes glitter feel as smooth as the rest of your nails and Dazzle Dry top coat to the rest of them. I like the finished product, how about you?!

Thanks to you all for having me here, and especially to Crystal. I have enjoyed being here and
sharing my design!

Lisa

Guest Post from Bridget - Luxe Beauty Forever!!

Hi Everyone!!!
I'm still sick, but thankfully rested a ton over the weekend!! I have a special guest today to keep you entertained though...Bridget of Luxe Beauty Forever!!  Please check out her blog, http://luxebeautyforever.com/, as she has fantastic tips (both her nails and her tricks/techniques!!).  She shares lots of beauty details and has updated her blog to a wonderful new look!  I absolutely love the new graphics and design!!  I think you guys will like her!! Here she is...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First of all, thank you so much Crystal for allowing me to do a guest post on your amazing blog! It's only appropriate that I present a fun combo for my mani today. I started with my typical bases coat(s); Essie 'Grow Stronger' and OPI 'Nail Envy'. I always use two because I feel that it protects my nails from too much staining and I struggle with keeping my nails strong and this combination seems to help! On my ring finger I used 2 coats of Essie 'Leading Lady' which I'd describe as a rich nearly maroon red jelly polish with silver glitter that appears to possess different shades of red with multiple coats. On all other fingers I used 2 coats of Catherine Arley '676' which is a silver scattered holographic nail polish. And of course I couldn't just leave this mani alone! I added 1 coat of Lynnderella 'The Stars in Her Eyes...' which has silver holographic hexagon and star glitter in it as well as a mix of aurora-borealis glitter. Ok enough of the details here's the final result:
For_Crystal_a For_Crystal
And here's a bit more of a close up!
What do you guys think? Do you ever layer glitter over holographic polishes? Lynnderella polishes can be found via her eBay shop here for $23.00 shipped. There are many other glitter polishes in her shop! I hope you enjoyed my guest post and thank you so much Crystal! xoxo Until next time…
♥ Cheers,
Bridget
Hi Everyone!
I'm so excited to be guest blogging for Crystal's Crazy Combos, I've been reading her blog for a few months, and I've even lurked her entire blog to read her old posts - she is absolutely amazing and I LOVE her polish reviews and swatches! I feel very honored to be sharing a bit of my own work on her website, although it is not nail polish related, I'm sure we all enjoy a bit of makeup in our lives.
Today I will be sharing one of my main go-to makeup looks, a day to night transformation using one little palette and some travel-friendly items that fit perfectly in my small cosmetic bag, easy to throw in my purse and get on the road.
The quad I used is called TANtalEYES from Lorac Cosmetics, it was released last year at $36, but you can now get it through their VIP discount for only $16! This quad is my go-to palette for a quick look, these shadows are baked so you can apply them dry or wet, which means you can even multi-use these shades as liners.
My day look consists of the bronze shadow from the TANtalEYES palette applied wet all over the lid and lightly lining my lower lash line, I used the white gold shade as in inner corner highlight and I gently layered it on top of a white kohl liner on my water line to widen my eyes and help my look more awake. I also used the MAC eyeshadow in Brule, which is a matte bone shade, as my brow bone highlight and to diffuse the edges of the bronze shadow to make everything softer. I lightly filled in my brows with It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil to give them more shape and to hide some thinner areas.
I paired my daytime eyes with a nudey-pink lip, using Josie Maran's lipstick in Dyani topped with Lorac's Lips With Benefits in Nick.
Transitioning this day look into a night look, I added a bit more of the bronze shadow from the TANtalEYES palette to the crease area, bringing the color up higher to the brow. I added a bit more of the white gold shade to my inner corner to attract more light. I used the Mally Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Liner in Midnight to line my upper lash line and create a slightly dramatic wing, I smudged it with a pencil brush and then layered the burgundy shadow from the TANtalEYES palette on top of the liner. I also used a little of the burgundy on the outer corner of my lower lash line just to smoke it out a bit and add that sultry effect. I added a MAC eyeshadow in Retro Speck to my brow bone highlight, this is a light shimmer champagne shade. I also added a MAC eyeshadow in Cross Cultural to my brows to darken and further define them. I added the Mally Midnight liner to my water line and some of the Yves Rocher gold Glitter Mascara to my lower lashes just for something fun.
I paired my night time eyes with a rich berry lip, using NYX's Haute Coutour topped with Shu Uemura's Gloss Unlimited in Wine 283s.
Please check out her blog, as she always has something to inspire me with!  I love her creativity and designs!!  Plus she is a total sweetheart and I'm so glad to have "met" her! :-) I will let her take you through this amazing look!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello to all the lovely readers of Crystal's Crazy Combos! I am super excited to be here today! Crystal and I started blogging around the same time and became fast friends on twitter. She always posts the most amazing indie swatches and makes me lem like ALL of them! I decided to go with a very pink subtle manicure for you today. Sometimes people ask me where I get my inspiration from and it literally can happen from anything. For this particular manicure I got the idea from a post it note.

I won a giveaway and when I received the winnings it included this awesome post it! I tacked it up onto my bulletin board and then did created an interpretation of the design onto my nails. I used two coats of China Glaze Hang-Ten Toes which is from the Summer Neon Collection. I completely love this polish. It has some subtle shimmer and the pink is just gorgeous. Then I grabbed a pink/purple  striper from the Color Club Brights Striper Set and started drawing the designs. I also used a dotting tool to create the dots. I added the 3mm rhinestones to give the design a little pizzaz.

I really liked the pink on pinkness of these nails. It is really subtle and beautiful in my opinion! The rhinestones just gave it that extra pop! that I was looking for when I was doing these. I completely love the feeling of having something 3D on my nails. I can never stop feeling them lol.

Do you like doing subtle designs? This is my first one in awhile and I think I'm really digging the look! Have you tried subtle designs yourself? In what colour combinations?

Thank you SO MUCH to Crystal for asking me to guest post :D

Hope you are all having a great day!
Stephanie of Sincerely Stephanie
