Nostalgic - Mad World and Rock Me Amadeus

Hello Everyone!! It's Thursday already!! yay!  I have two beauties from Nostalgic Lacquer today.  First up we have Mad World.  This is a gorgeous glitter mix!! Perfect for New Year's Eve!

I started with 2 coats of Chanel Vertigo and added one coat of Mad World then topped with Seche Vite.  The glitter applied very nicely and gives great coverage for just one coat!  The mix is fantastic, ensuring that every nail will look unique!

It was hard to capture, but the glitter also reflects beautifully.  A few of the glitters are holographic, so they add extra sparkle!

The cool thing about this collection from Nostalgic, is that these are all based on songs.  Here is the song/video from YouTube for Mad World, by Tears for Fears.  I'm loving the 80's theme of the songs too :-) So fun!  It makes me laugh, because I just remember listening to these songs with my Mom!

Nostalgic Lacquer is sold at http://nostalgicnaillacquer.bigcartel.com/ for $9.75 each.  Both are in stock!!

She also sometimes adds stock to her shop on Etsy, Nostalgic Lacquer. You can also find polishes at Overall Beauty - Nostalgic for $10 each. Kim, the owner of Overall Beauty, is very nice and has great customer service!  And just recently, these are now on Shoppe Eclectico - Nostalgic Lacquers!  Unfortunately, most are sold out.

Stay up to date on Nostalgic by following http://nostalgicnaillacquer.com/, Facebook or Erin's Blog.

I love these two shots of the bottles where you can see how much variety you have with this glitter!  I see squares, hexagons, diamonds, bar glitter, circle glitter, hearts, and that's just shapes!  It's a rainbow of color in the bottle!  Any color would look great as a base for this, as it adds that extra party/confetti feel!

Erin says: "Mad World is a part of the New Wave Winter collection and is a dazzling mixture of approximately 100 different glitters (and growing!). Hexes, squares, diamonds, shreds, hearts, stars, circles and bars! Each bottle is completely unique and different from the next. Layer this over your favorite base colors to create a totally original look."

Close up!

Next we have Rock Me Amadeus!!

For this mani, I used 2 coats and topped with Seche Vite.  In certain angles I can see my nail line, but in person it isn't as noticeable.

It applied extremely well!  The glitters applied perfectly.

This color is based on the song Rock Me Amadeus by Falco.   Here is a video from YouTube.  At first I didn't think I knew it, but as it played, I do know the chorus! :-)

Here is a bottle shot!  Isn't this such a great combo of glitters?!

Erin says:  "Rock Me Amadeus is a part of the New Wave Winter collection and is a white base with burgundy, black, aqua and purple squares and hexes in multiple sizes. Perfect over your favorite white base color but very buildable on it's own!"

Close up!!  So creamy and pretty!  I love it in 2 coats, but you could easily layer as Erin suggested!

I really love the collection theme.  I did a little more research to get some info on the New Wave music, and here a quick quote from Wikipedia:
New Wave is a subgenre of rock music that emerged in the mid to late 1970s alongside punk rock. The term at first generally was synonymous with punk rock before being considered a genre in its own right that incorporated aspects of electronic and experimental music, mod subculture, disco and 1960s pop music. New Wave, as a term, has been used to describe all post-punk rock music, yet, it distances itself from other post-punk movements as it displays characteristics common to pop music, rather than the more "arty" post-punk.[15]
As a genre, it incorporates much of the original punk rock sound and ethos[7][16] yet it is characterized by greater complexity in both music and lyrics. Common characteristics of New Wave music, aside from its punk influences, include the use of synthesizers and electronic productions, the importance of styling and the arts, as well as a great amount of diversity.[15] As a term, New Wave is often used to describe music which was quirky and eccentric, yet also catchy and pop at heart, incorporating clear melodious hooks. In such a way, its style varies greatly, ranging from 1950s and 60s rock revivalism, ska and reggae-styled music, to synthpop-oriented dance.[17]
New Wave is seen as one of the definitive genres of the 1980s;[18] at the time, it enjoyed commercial success as several of the major artists and groups of the time were labelled New Wave. The genre became a fixture on MTV,[15][17] and the popularity of several New Wave artists has been partially attributed to the exposure that was given to them by the channel.[17] In the mid 1980s differences between New Wave and other music genres began to blur.[9][15] New Wave has enjoyed resurgences since the 1990s, after a "nostalgia" for New Wave swept across the music scene, influencing several artists.[17] The revivals in the 1990s and early 2000s were small, but became popular by 2004; subsequently, the genre has influenced a variety of music genres.[10][11][19][20][21][22][23]

Here is Erin's collection photo!  She did a fantastic job and these colors are all amazing!!

Nostalgic - Rio and Jem

Hello Everyone!! I didn't have sun the other day when I took these, but I thought these were too pretty not to share!! Today I have 2 colors from Nostalgic Lacquer - Rio and Jem!

First up is Rio and I used a base of China Glaze Tantalize Me.  I know I recently used this, but this is a gorgeous color and I love the hidden blue shimmer!  This is 2 coats.

Next I applied 1 coat of Rio and topped with Wicked Fast.

Nostalgic Lacquer is sold at http://nostalgicnaillacquer.bigcartel.com/. It looks like she is out of stock right now, but you can stay up to date by following http://nostalgicnaillacquer.com/, Facebook or Blog. Erin, the owner, sells her polishes for $9.75.

Rio is a gorgeous mix of purple, blue, and silver holographic glitters.

Next we have Nostalgic Jem!  I started with 2 coats of Zoya Dove (sorry no pics) and 1 coat of Jem, followed by Wicked Fast.

Jem is made up of gorgeous pink glitters mixed with white hexagons and bar glitter, with a sprinkle of copper/rose pink glitters.  Pictures do not do this one justice.  I almost passed it by and I would have definitely been missing out!!

Nostalgic - Way Harsh

Happy Friday!! I'm going to have another busy weekend with a friend's wedding on Saturday, and Mr. CC is in it!  Thankfully, I am feeling better!  My voice is still somewhat gone, but I can finally breathe again! lol

Today I have Nostalgic Way Harsh to show you!!  I started with a base of Zoya Kristen.  If I could only pick 10 polishes to take to a desert island, this would be one.  I know that it's plain, a cream, and just kind of "boring", but it is so awesomely boring that I crave it!  If you haven't noticed, I use this as a base for a TON of stuff.  It applies perfectly with 2 coats, compliments my skin tone, and is pretty much just the perfect calming, dusty baby blue! This is with Wicked Fast top coat and I actually wore it by itself a couple of days while I was home sick with a cold!

So because I'm so in love with this, I want to share this link with you, https://www.artofbeauty.com/rd/014C6397.  This is a Share the Love link that leads to Zoya Kristen. This link is a way for me to earn points through them! So cool for me, but don't worry, you guys can get something too! See what Zoya wrote: Remember EVERYONE WINS with "Share the Love": When someone clicks on your personal link and sets up an online account, a $5 coupon a coupon for a FREE Bottle of Zoya Nail Polish will automatically be placed in their account and can be used immediately on their current order. TIP: If you use this coupon and add 2 more polishes to your order, you get free shipping too! The coupon will appear in the "My Coupons/ Promos" section of their "My Account" Page.

So yesterday I mentioned that you could add the base color over a glitter to help with tipwear.  Another way to spruce up a regular mani is to add GLITTA!  Of course we all know that though, right? ;-)  I love to contrast, so I went with something to help this Nostalgic pop!

Here is 1 coat of Nostalgic Way Harsh over Zoya Kristen, topped with Seche Vite.

Nostalgic Lacquer is sold at http://nostalgicnaillacquer.bigcartel.com/.    It looks like she is out of stock right now, but you can stay up to date by following http://nostalgicnaillacquer.com/Facebook or Blog.  Erin, the owner, sells her polishes for $9.75.

This angle is SO cool in the picture below!! Doesn't it look like the glitter is 3-D!?!?

Drool.  Close ups make everything better!  I love matte glitter too!  Hope you enjoyed today's post!

Have a great weekend!!!

Much Love,
Crystal

Nostalgic As If!

Hello!  Today's post I hesitated showing you guys because it's not really as nice as I wanted it!  I've meant to redo this, but just haven't had the time.  I figured I would post it, because the combination looks great in my opinion!  I just had issues with bubbling :-(  So please ignore my imperfections, but enjoy the mani!  I hope you don't mind!
I took 2 coats of Cult Nails Manipulative, which you can see swatched by itself, HERE.  Then I took 1 coat of Nostalgic As If and finished with Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat.  I'm not sure if it's the top coat that I'm using or what I can do to prevent the bubbling.  It could be something different in Nostalgic's base, and maybe I need to wait longer to apply a top coat.  I've had this a few times, so I will continue to experiment to get the best result!  Nostalgic Lacquers are too awesome to pass by, so I will make them work! ;-) lol

Nostalgic Lacquer is sold at http://nostalgicnaillacquer.com/.  Her site is currently under construction, but you can stay up to date by following her Facebook or Blog.  She recently did a wishlist ordering system, so she is working on finishing that up.  Erin, the owner, sells her polishes for $9.75.

You can find Cult Nails at http://shop.cultnails.com/ for $10 each. Maria, the owner, has a new collection created by her daughter Coco that just came out.  I hope to have that review soon for you!

I hope you enjoyed this mani even though it isn't up to my usual standards :-(  lol  The combination still looks awesome together I think!! I just love the pink in As If!!

I hope you have a great day!

Much Love,
Crystal
