Aphrodite Lacquers - Jelly Sandwich!

Hello!!  I have two more fantastic colors from Aphrodite Lacquers Birthday Collection to show you.  I even made a jelly sandwich for you!  YUM!

First up, we will look at It's My Party!

What a delicious pink jelly!  It has a gorgeous silver shimmer throughout.  I used 3 coats with Wicked Fast top coat, as it does dry a little matte (or you can keep it like that too!).  I think you could even get away with 2 coats, but I liked the way 3 looked for pictures! :-)

For ordering of all these polishes I've shown you today (if you missed my earlier post, you can find it HERE - Make A Wish), you can shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/AphroditeLacquers. I must warn you - there are lots of polishes that are gorgeous, so please beware!!  Your nails will thank me, but your wallets may cry a little! To stay up to date on Aphrodite Lacquer, you can follow by Facebook and Twitter (@AphroditeLacque).

Close up!

As I mentioned in the previous post today, Rebecca, the owner, will be doing a Birthday Collection instead of a Holiday one to celebrate her upcoming birthday in December! I LOVE this idea to have something different! Yet, Make a Wish and The Icing on the Cake still give me a bit of a holiday feel (even though I know I'll wear them all year round!). I think these are all very beautiful and recommend them based on their fantastic formula.

Next, here is The Icing on the Cake!

I layered 1 coat of The Icing on the Cake over It's My Party and topped with Wicked Fast.  The Icing on the Cake is such a beautiful glitter!  It is white transparent glitters with a beautiful shimmer base.  It really reminds me of snow, but I love the name!!  Icing is delicious, LOL ;-)  Makes me hungry!

This would look great over any base!  I think over white would give it that snow effect where it glitters in the light, or over a dark color would look mysterious too!

I love this close up!  The shimmer in both polishes sort of blend together, but the glitters of The Icing on the Cake just look so beautiful here, layered over each other.

Now it's time for:  The Jelly Sandwich!!!!  Here is another layer of It's My Party over top!  It's My Party does dry a bit matte, so this is without a top coat.

I added a coat of Wicked Fast top coat for the next pictures.  I absolutely love how this turned out!  The glitters glow beneath the hot pink!

What do you think?  Does this make you hungry too??? hehe

YUM :-)

Again, in case you missed it above, for ordering of all these polishes I've shown you today (if you missed my earlier post, you can find it HERE - Make A Wish), you can shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/AphroditeLacquers. I must warn you - there are lots of polishes that are gorgeous, so please beware!! Your nails will thank me, but your wallets may cry a little! Hope you all have a great day and that you enjoyed all the Aphrodite Lacquers spam!!
Much Love,

XOXO Nails - Black Magic gets Scandalous with Cult Nails!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!! How are you!?  WELCOME to all my new friends here!! I couldn't be more excited to share with you and appreciate your support!!  I am pretty excited to have reached over 600 people!  I am so thankful to continue to grow in this community!  And if you haven't heard, I do have a giveaway going on, so please go check it out - Sephora - It's Real.

Today I have a gorgeous polish to show you, called Black Magic.  It can be applied to pretty much any color for instant nail art! LOVE it!  So I decided to use Scandalous by Cult Nails as my base!  It's a coral color, kind of pink/orange.  You can see my previous review of it HERE.  For this mani, I was able to get away with 2 thick coats for a base.  I then applied 1 coat of Black Magic by XOXO Nails, finishing with Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat.

Black Magic is black glitter in a clear base with lots of different sizes and shapes, including square, hexagon, and bar glitters.  It is simple, yet it dresses up any mani instantly!  Such a versatile glitter.

I know I say it every post, but Elektra, the owner, is such a sweetheart! We met through Instagram. Not only does she create gorgeous polishes, she is great at manicures too! Make sure you check her out on Instagram - @xoxo_nails. She is also on Facebook and Twitter - @xoxo_nails. Her shop on Etsy, XOXO Nails, has full size bottles for $9.00, but she does have a few sets at discounted prices! Here is Black Magic!  Elektra keeps making new creations all the time, so make sure you check her out!! I always love what she comes up with!

So since Scandalous is a jelly, I decided to layer a coat of that over top!!  I love how it turned out!!!  And since Scandalous is very glossy, I didn't need to add a top coat (unless you want quick drying or to prolong the mani!).

Even though the jelly sandwich somewhat mutes the black glitter, it still gives an awesome effect in my opinion!

Of course, we love to be zoomed in, right!?

And here is a mani I wore to a wedding at the beginning of the month.  I didn't have time to take better pictures, but still wanted to share this beautiful combo of Black Magic over 2 coats of Tulum.  You can see my previous post HERE.

I liked it because it was kind of opposite of my dress! lol  And it's fun because people always think I spend a lot of times, but I threw this on while my friend, Dolly, curled my hair!! Talk about multi-tasking ;-)

Hope you enjoyed today's post!!  I hope I didn't make you too hungry with my yummy glitter sammy! hehe :-)  Make sure you check out Elektra's shop to see all her pretties - XOXO Nails!

Much Love,
Crystal

Pretty & Polished - Wine Night Out

Hello Everyone!!! I was going through my racks and found this little beauty!  Unfortunately, I have lots of untried from all my big orders and this one was put away before I had a chance to use it.  Pretty & Polished has been one of my favorite Indie Brands.  I love her formula and creativity!  I'm not sure that Wine Night Out is still being made, but I still wanted to share this with you!  I would highly recommend checking out her shop, as she is constantly coming up with new colors and trying different kinds of polish even!  She just released a color changing polish (based on temperature), and has a few more colors that she is releasing with the same color changing ability.  How awesome is that!?!

You can check out Chelsea's shop on Etsy, http://www.etsy.com/shop/PrettyandPolished.  She is closed right now, but you can sign up to be notified when she returns from vacation mode.  You can also stay up to date with her Facebook and Blog.

For this mani, I used 1 coat of OPI My Pointe Exactly, then 1 coat of Wine Night Out, 1 coat of My Pointe Exactly, followed by 1 coat of Wine Night Out and topped with Wicked Fast top coat by Cult Nails - creating a jelly sandwich, layering concoction! lol  Wine Night Out is a shifting glitter that changes from purple/blue to orange/pink.  It is gorgeous!  My camera made it look a little more blue than it is in some pictures.

Since I'm not sure if this is being made anymore, I can tell you that you may be able to find a couple other brands that are similar to this.  Harlow & Co. still has  Ozotic Elytra 529 for $14.50 as clearance before it is discontinued.  Also keep an eye out for Enchanted Polish as she has 4 new color shifting glitters coming out.  One of hers looks a bit similar to this too.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Much Love,
Crystal

Random Swatches & Combos!

Hello All!!! So I paint my nails daily, and sometimes feel like pictures aren't "worthy" of the blog.  It can range from tipwear, just not liking how I applied the particular color/colors, or even just that the weather didn't cooperate and I didn't get very good pictures of it.  I decided today that I'd show you a few of my randoms because even though they may not be *perfect*, I overall like the colors and combinations I used.  Hopefully this will be just a fun post for you guys to see some of my daily manis.  Most of what I wear, I post though :-)  I love sharing with you all!!

Ok, so first up, I used 2 coats of Zoya Snooki with 1 coat of Models Own Ibiza Mix.  I loved this minus my tipwear, lol.

Next up, I believe I used 3 coats of Hare Polish Twilight Savings with 1 coat of Seche Vite.  Since this is an oldie, I can't remember exactly.  I remember though that since it's a jelly, I did more that I thought I'd need to go get coverage.  I think this will be great for layering too!  I do hope to do a review on this one at some point :-D

Next up - Ozotic 531!  Now this is being discontinued and I'm not 100% sure if you can still find it.  I believe this is 2 coats with Wicked Fast top coat.  I know it's kind of sheer and at certain angles my tips could be seen.  I know at some point I added a third coat and another coat of top coat to wear for a second day - I don't usually do that, so that shows how much I loved this. Since it's a light color, the tipwear wasn't too bad!  I was so lucky to a snapshot in the sun, I think I wore this last weekend and as you can see in the second pic, the sun was gone within the same stop light! haha  This is a duochrome holographic - amazing right?  Why are they discontinuing these beauties!?

And last but not least, my mani I took off last night.  This was so pretty in person!  I would have taken better pics had we had some sun yesterday!  It has been such bad weather since last weekend!  I just want some sun to swatch!! lol  For this mani, I started with 1 coat of OPI Dating a Royal (such a favorite of mine - a blue jelly that is just awesome!) Now, 1 coat is a tad streaky, but I knew I'd cover it with glitter.  Next up is 1 coat of Lynnderella Forget You Not.

This was pretty by itself, but I regretted not doing 2 coats of Dating a Royal.  So instead, I improvised with OPI Don't Touch My Tutu, a white jelly over top to make a jelly sandwich.  I loved this look!  You can kind of still see the purple shimmers in Forget You Not, they were more noticeable in person!  I really love that color!  I think this is my first time trying it!  The worst thing about being a hoarder, I mean collector, is that I have SO many untrieds.  It is quite sad really.  If I ONLY had like 10 hands...I would be a lot more proficient in getting work and house chores done, plus be able to support multiple manis! hahaha ;-)
Flash

I had fun, hopefully you liked this too, since it's a tad different that I normally do.  If there is a particular polish you would like details on, please let me know in the comments or send me an email! ;-) I was going to list links, but since this is just a fun post of swatches and not a review, I figured to just keep it short and sweet.  Also, if you have a specific polish in here that you want to see a full review on, I can do that too.  Just let me know!

I hope you all have a great day!!  My girlie, Jessica, is coming over!  I still get hits on her nails that I blogged about as one of my first entries!!  Her pic went viral on Pinterest, so maybe I will con her into being my hand model again...

Much Love,
Crystal
